August already. Wow. When June 30th came and went, I thought, “the year is halfway over, 2013 will be here before you know it.” Now, it’s August and there is no sign of slowing down any time soon. Just the way I like it 🙂
It has been a very hot summer, very different than what I’m used to in Florida, though. This is a much more dry heat, so even though it’s incredibly warm, I don’t start melting the minute I leave the house. Despite the heat, we’ve been spending a lot of time outside.
June, July, and 7 days of August in a nutshell: Boating at Cooney. Hiking in Sundance Lodge. Tomatoes and peppers from the garden. Wading in the Yellowstone. Laurel Street dance.
Too many beers. Fireworks. Barbecues. Fire pits + s’mores. Baby showers. Bountiful Baskets. Housebreaking our new puppy (!!!). Mother-in-law arrival. Amazing people. This is the most comfortable I’ve felt in Montana since we moved here and I’m so incredibly grateful for everyone in our lives who has made an impact.
I’m very much looking forward to the remainder of the summer. Mike’s mom is here visiting through the end of the month and we want to take her to do as many fun things as we can. We’re hoping to make it to Bozeman and Red Lodge before she leaves, and have plans for the farmers market and maybe the bear sanctuary. We’re also finally having our “housewarming” barbecue. I’m not sure what else is in store, but I’ll be ready for it.
